Cebu

Cebu City is the capital and the main city of the island of Cebu. It is one of the oldest cities of the country. Even though it's old, Cebu is a very lively place with many places to go out, eat and have fun. It's a great base for seeing the rest of the island as well as making trips to Bohol, Philippines (with its famous Chocolate Hills), Mactan island (just off the coast of Cebu) or even Mindanao.

Attractions

• Sights include Magellan's Cross, a wooden cross planted by Magellan himself over 450 years ago to commemorate the baptism into the Christian faith of Rajah Humabon and his wife Juana with 800 followers.


• Fort San Pedro, the oldest and smallest Spanish fort in the country, which was built on the orders of Spanish conquistador Miguel Lopez de Legazpi in 1565.

The currency in the Philippines is the Peso (PhP).
