Callao
Lima, located seven miles form the port of Callao, was named the City of the Kings. Its grand old quarter is rich with Spanish colonial architecture: The Plaza del Armas has some prime examples. Late in the afternoon, the port of Callao will be filled with fishing boats, returning from a day at sea.
Adventures
The gateway to Lima was founded by Pizarro and the Conquistadors and is a great staging area for all your Peruvian exploits. From here you can tour the Incan capital of Cuzco and the mysterious lost city of Machu Picchu with relative ease. You're also within easy reach of "must-sees" like The Gold Museum of Lion, the Larco Hennera Museum, the Pachacamac Ruins, the Archeological Museum and the Paso Horse exhibition.
Currency
The official currency in Peru is the Nuevo Sol (S/.), which is divided into 100 centimos.
