Hawaii Cruise

Welcome to my Hawaii Blog! I recently experienced the Hawaiian Islands by cruise ship. We sailed on Norwegian’s Pride of America. The beauty of Hawaii is indescribable and it is truly a destination that is ideal for cruising. Pictures cannot do these islands justice and seeing them first hand is the only way you can really take in all the beauty the Hawaiian Island’s have to offer.

Here are a few pointers and highlights:
Always arrive at least 2 days early, especially if you are going over from the East Coast. Getting to Hawaii is not the fun part and it can be very tiring. Allow enough days to help your body adjust to the time change and to see the beautiful island of Oahu.

Rent a car in Oahu and get out of Waikiki and Honolulu. Ten minutes out of town and it’s a whole different world.

Do not miss Pearl Harbor.

Do your homework and know what there is to offer. Plan your days according to your interests and desires and pace yourself. Stop to smell the roses….or most likely, the orchids. The flowers are absolutely, amazing, so soak up the beauty.

If you rent a car, be sure not to take the upgrade unless you don’t mind paying a lot more for gas than is necessary. Many of the car companies are getting “stuck” with SUV’s and other gas guzzling autos, and they “upgrade” you. Gas is very expensive in Hawaii.

In Kauai, do not miss a helicopter tour. You will sail by the Napoli Coast but nothing can touch the experience of seeing it from above. It was absolutely stunning.

Arguably the best and or most authentic Luau is the Old Lahaina Luau on Maui.

Hawaii is a great destination for families, so bring Grandma and Grandpa as well as the kids. It’s also a fabulous honeymoon option.

Pack light and casual. No need for dress up clothes on this itinerary.

As they say in Hawaii……”Shacka”….it means chill out or no problem. If you have questions feel free to contact me.
